Parade Launches First-Ever Underwear Recycling Program

Why: Parade, the cult-favorite intimates brand beloved by Gen Z, wants to make recycling underwear as easy as 1-2-3—literally. Step 1: Order one of its free “Second Life” kits and fill it with your clean, unwanted underwear (from any brand). Step 2: Use the label and biodegradable bag Parade provides to ship it back to them. Step 3: Receive a Parade shopping credit to use on new sustainable basics. That’s it! The colorful and conscious company backed by the likes of Karlie Kloss and Shakira has created a way to keep fabric out of landfills that is both accessible and incentivizing. To achieve this, Parade partnered with the waste management company Terracycle to turn used fabric into new recycled products like furniture, insulation, bedding, and more. Second Life is a notable push in Parade’s mission to become carbon positive by 2025. The winter ground defrosts and Marrakshi Life’s “Collection 10” treads softly on the new earth in soothing blush tones inspired by the color palette of a town far from Marrakech known for its pink-painted architecture. Why: A life spent jetting between New York and Mumbai brings two hemispheres of influence to the designs of Anjali Patel Mehta, the founder of Verandah, a new eco-conscious luxury resortwear brand. A keen traveler, she saw the need for travel separates that are both boho-luxe and fuss-free. The artisanal fabrics from India provide a canvas for the joyful hand-illustrated prints Mehta sources from the contours of her culture. Her fellow artisans, or “baradari,” weave the finest hand-spun Bengal muslin that are made into chic separates, perfect for resort getaways. Her line of stylish maillots and bikinis are also made from Econyl yarn, derived from fishing nets and carpet waste. And all the while Verandah maintains small production batches, gives back to socio-environmental charities, and repurposes post-production waste. Sandy Liang Collaborates With Vans on a ‘90s-Inspired Collection

Why: Downtown-cool designer Sandy Liang has teamed up with Vans for the third time, creating a head-to-toe collection that’s oozing with tween nostalgia. The pieces pull ideas from the contradictions of NYC, embracing the beautiful, sporty, frilly, and, yes, gritty in equal doses. Vans’s SK8-Hi Tapered Modular is reimagined with a detachable rubber sole, chunky enough for wintry conditions in any city, countered by a delicate lacy trim on the heel. The retro stickers and graphics on the brand’s signature sneakers harken back to teen days just before Y2K, when ‘90s mall culture ruled. Born and raised in NYC, Liang says her favorite memories of that time are “growing up and being careless and dreamy, thinking about who I would be as an ‘adult’, [and] wanting to go to the mall and shop with my friends.” Shot in Chinatown, the campaign celebrates the mini-malls that populate the neighborhood and the bordering Lower East Side area. The collection’s forest green low-tops embroidered with “LES Lover” are a particularly covetable blast from the past.


Hoorsenbuhs and Spinelli Kilcollin Debut New Capsule Collection

The “333 Collection” includes three ring silhouettes offered in three different metals: sterling silver, yellow gold, and diamond pavé. Each piece features the signature elements of each brand: Hoorsenbuhs’s triple-link motif paired with Spinelli’s interlocking rings (noticing a theme here?). Interestingly, “333” both literally and figuratively links the two brands who have existed in the City of Angels together long enough to agree on a vision. The coolest folks in La La Land know well of each brand’s high-quality craftsmanship and unique designs made to catch the light of the California sun. This capsule gives us a new excuse to insist that all good things do indeed come in threes.

Why: Saint Art is a New York street style brand experiencing a meteoric rise—perfect timing for a buzzy release in 2022. Cue New York-based, travel-inspired label ASHYA, which caught his eye due to its thoughtful and unique designs that marry style and pragmatism. Co-founders Ashley Cimone and Moya Annece are right where Kors was years ago, emerging in the New York design scene and making every effort to become established as a new generation’s go-to accessories brand. Amid an ongoing exploration of their West African roots, Cimone and Annece incorporate unique regional elements into their work, in which communities pass down stories through textiles.
